PROFESSIONAL AGENTS and TOURING ARTISTS

Contact for bookings is Paul Burke.
Sorry we can't discuss new bookings over the phone. Initial contact by email please: paul@fawm.net

Update 19 February 2010
- We are looking to book one or two well-known artists / bands for midweek gigs during July and August 2010. This may suit high-profile artists on UK tour who have weekend festival gigs in the South.

- We are now booking for Autumn 2010. Fears about recession are still with us but audience numbers in Spring have been great. Actually so has the music.

General Promo

You are welcome to send CDs which we may use on the Radio Show; and to email weblink for biog. Address for CDs: The Jays, Horton Road, Ringwood BH24 2EJ Please don't send promo packs.

PA
We have excellent in-house PA but we are happy to welcome touring sound engineers who will work under the guidance of the folk club's engineer.

ACCOMMODATION + MEALS
We can provide hotel accommodation and restaurant meals for touring artists as part of the deal.

LOCAL PERFORMERS ...
... who want to play at Bournemouth Folk Club.

RESPECT FOR MUSIC + MUSICIANS
We have to be sure the performer understands our ideas about respect for fellow musicians. Performers are expected to listen quietly to all the other musicians. It doesn't suit everyone but, for us, it's about respect for musicians and their songs.

PA
We are proud of the sound quality at the venue. For local gigs, headliners are expected to arrive for soundcheck by 6.15 (bands) or 6.45 (solo performers). We ask all support musicians to check in with PA person. If unsure of time to arrive, email Paul (paul@fawm.net).

SCHEDULE
We work in 4 or 5 x 15 - 20 minute sets with a headline of 40 mins at the end. The headline gets paid 75 % net door takings so obviously we only offer headlines to performers who will attract audience numbers. The percentage only applies if the local headliner attracts a paying audience of 25+. Highest payout on a local headline was £365. Lowest was £nil.

AUDIENCE
The folk club cannot guarantee you a large audience. Encourage followers, fans, friends and family to come and support you whenever you play.... but please note that all photography must be authorised (strictly no flash or obtrusive positionning).

CONTACT
It is best to make contact first by email or come along to a gig. CD recordings, myspace links or mp3 tracks are useful but make contact before sending them. Please do not send promo packs - weblink is adequate for biogs.

SUPPORT FOR MAJOR GIGS
We do sometimes invite top local performers to play a warm-up set of 25 mins for major gigs.
